Preparing for 2017 our U12 (2005) Girls look back on last summers success

2016 was certainly a fantastic year for the girls. They enhanced their individual play and were introduced to small group tactics around attacking and defending principles of play. Head Coach Steve Loomes noted, “the girls have an infectious spirit that drives them towards excellence.” Whilst the girls are very competitive they also understand the importance of collaboration; as they worked in small groups on individual and team goal setting. In terms of technical development, Steve Loomes said, “the girls understand they always should improve individual technical ability, the basics, passing, receiving, shooting and dribbling – we work on these components always; but the exciting part is seeing them experiment in games”.

As part of their weekly training they get to work with our Club Technical Director Kristina Kiss. This is an important component of the training package, as the girls are exposed to a different Coach once per week but also have a role model; “this group has a tremendous work ethic” Kristina noted.

Some achievements from 2016:

  • Girls played at least three different positions

  • Exemplary performance in sixteen 2016 regular ERSL league games

  • They play with the ball on the ground as much as possible

  • Played up a year at the Gloucester Invitation Festival

  • Champion at the U11 age at the Greece Cobras Tournament

  • Have been doing extremely well in their winter Coliseum League
