West Ottawa Soccer Club will be well represented in the League1 Women’s All-Star game, which will see the League1 representatives face off against the Ontario Soccer U-18 Womens’ Canada Games squad. Four Warriors’ players will be in action when the two squads face each other on July 25 in a showcase of Ontario soccer talent.
Striker Arielle Kabangu and defender Vanessa Gilles will represent the Warriors on the all-star team. Kabangu is West Ottawa’s leading scorer and is among the top five scorers in the league (seven goals) while Gilles has been strong and solid for WOSC in the back throughout the season and has scored two goals of her own.
West Ottawa’s League1 assistant coach (and club head coach) Kwame Telemaque will join Kabangu and Gilles with the All-Stars as a member of the team’s technical staff.
Mollie Eriksson and Olivia Cooke will be a part of the Canada Games team that will face the League1 All-Stars as a part of their final tune-up before the Summer Games which begin on July 28 in Winnipeg. Cooke has proven herself to be a tough and dynamic player at the League1 level, netting five goals as the team’s second-leading goal scorer. Eriksson has been invaluable in net, with 1.55 goals-against average in 10 games played.
Congratulations and good luck to Arielle, Mollie, Olivia, and Vanessa!
