The West Ottawa Soccer Club is seeking a candidate to fill the role of Chief Executive Officer. 

Job Description:

Background
The West Ottawa Soccer Club (WOSC) was founded in 2010 and is now the largest soccer club in the Ottawa area, and the second largest club in the country. The Club is the result of a merger of a number of soccer clubs in the west end of Ottawa and continues to grow.

The WOSC delivers a full suite of soccer programs from very young children to adults. A variety of league and player development programs are offered to meet all levels of ability and interest. The Club is a leader in Long Term Player Development.

The Club is professionally managed with a full time staff of 7 and a number of part-time staff. The WOSC is governed by a volunteer board of directors and relies on an extensive network of volunteers to deliver its programs. 

Responsibilities
The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for leading all aspects of the WOSC’s operations to ensure that programs and activities are efficient, effective and meeting the needs of club membership. This includes co-ordination and prioritization of staff work, assessment of optimal staff structures and program delivery models, retention and motivation of volunteers, marketing and revenue generation and facilities management.

The Club has grown significantly with increased complexity of operations. As a result, effective financial management and timely reporting to the Board of Directors is an important priority. The Chief Executive Officer must also work with the Board of Directors on the development and execution of new strategies to establish critical priorities and objectives to guide the WOSC’s long term future. 

The Chief Executive Officer will be responsible for managing the staff involved in the operations, technical development, marketing, finance and administration.

The position requires regular liaison with the Board of Directors and various local, provincial and national soccer bodies. 

Preferred Skills:
Requirements 
• A Post-Secondary Education. 
• Demonstrated leadership and experience managing organizations that include customer service, marketing and financial processes. 
• Experience working with and reporting to volunteer boards of directors, preparing and implementing strategic plans and setting organization goals. 
• Superior leadership skills, proven excellence in work habits and ability to work harmoniously with colleagues and others. 
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and experience in media relations. 
• Experience in working with sponsors/corporate marketing partners. 
• Experience in youth sports organizations is preferred but not mandatory.

Duties
1. Represent the interests of the WOSC and soccer in Ottawa and the broader soccer community.
2. Develop and implement a strategic plan in conjunction with the Board of Directors, to establish critical priorities and objectives to guide the WOSC’s long term future.
3. Lead all aspects of club operations and staff management including the prioritization and allocation of resources to ensure the timely and efficient completion of activities.
4. Ensure timely, accurate and complete financial reporting of all WOSC operations and ensure the adoption of effective financial management practices through a sound system of internal control. 
5. Ensure continuous improvement in all club processes to maximize operational efficiency and enhance the customer experience. 
6. Develop and maintain strong business relationships with key decision-makers in the City of Ottawa and private corporations/sponsors with the objective that will reduce costs and/or promote revenues, while improving overall program, service and facilities quality.
7. Attend all formal meetings, as required of the Board of Directors, Board sub committees, marketing and other club/volunteer events including the WOSC’s Annual General Meeting. 
8. Prepare written monthly and annual activity reports for the Board of Directors.
9. Perform all other duties including public relations functions as may be requested or as assigned by the Board of Directors.
