WOSC is excited to announce a new U19 to U21 Recreational league program. Please look under the Adult Programs Guide for information.
Every season there will be days when the weather is threatening, and you may wonder whether or not the game or practice will be cancelled.
The only time that West Ottawa Soccer will cancel activities is if the City of Ottawa closes fields. We will not cancel anything in advance due to weather conditions. It can be pouring rain in Morgan's Grant and beautiful and sunny in Richmond. Please go to your game or practice as scheduled. Coaches and referees will make a decision at the field based on local conditions and any thunder or lightning.
The OSA's rule of thumb for thunder lightning is:
If you see it, flee it,
If you hear it, clear it.
WOS made a commitment to its members that in its first year of operation, there would be no changes to the recreational program. We are now looking ahead to next summer and have made some important decisions about the recreational program going forward. The most significant decision made is that WOS will not enter any teams in the Goulbourn Lanark Soccer League (GLSL). Instead, all recreational players will play in the WOS house league. We feel that this is the best way to ensure that all WOS players have the same experience regardless of their physical address. Work is underway to define division borders, game nights, and all of the other components that make up the summer league. We have enlisted the help of volunteers from both the former Kanata and Goulbourn Clubs to create a program going forward using best practices from the past.
If you are interested in assisting in the work being done over the winter to prepare for the summer season, please email Vicki Lowe.
