Frequently Asked Questions

Will the camp still run if it is raining? Yes, players should dress appropriately.

What happens if there is thunder/lightning? One parent or guardian is required to be on standby. WOSC staff will email the parent/guardian group if the day needs to be cancelled due to inclement weather.

How will players be grouped? Players will be grouped based on ability.

Are snacks/sunscreen provided? No, players are required to bring their own snacks, water and sunscreen.

Are we required to bring a ball? Yes, all players are required to bring a properly pumped size 4 soccer ball.

There is a PUMA size 4 ball available at our online store by clicking here. When you order your ball, you can have it delivered to Thunderbird (1927 Richardson Side Road) for pick up. Any questions with these orders can be sent to events@wosc.com.

What soccer gear should my child wear? WOSC prefers for players to wear their PUMA gear if they have it, however it is not mandatory. Those who do not have WOSC gear are encouraged to athletic attire but ensure that you have the following:

  • Cleats are required
  • Shin pads are required.

Will the camp be cancelled if the Ottawa area is in the red or grey zone? Yes, unfortunately the camp cannot run if we are in the red or grey zone. Should this occur, registrants will receive a credit or reimbursement for their camp fee.

Registration

Enter the registration system by clicking the “Register” button above. Log in or create a Family Account for you and your child. Once an account has been created, you will be able to see each of the available weeks of camp for your child. At the end of the online registration process, you will be asked to make payment.  You can choose to pay with a credit card at that time. If you prefer to pay in person at the Club Office, select “Office Payment” and call the offices at 613-831-1135 to arrange a visit. WOSC offices are currently closed to the public due to COVID restrictions.

Proof of Purchase

Your receipt will be available within your Family Account after payment is made. Unless otherwise specified, your spot at camp is not reserved until payment is complete. If you are registering within one week of camp, please print your receipt and bring it with you.

Hydration

Each player should have their own water bottle at camp. They will be encouraged to carry their water with them throughout the day and drink periodically to stay hydrated. This should be continued during the evening to recover from the days activities.

What To Bring Checklist
  • Soccer Ball – We have extras if you don’t have one
  • Soccer Cleats and/or Running Shoes
  • Shin Guards – Mandatory
  • T-Shirt, Short & Soccer Socks
  • Track top and pant for cooler days
  • Hat – Welcome to be worn during outdoor activity
  • Water Bottle – We have access to good water for refills
  • Sunscreen & Bug Spray
  • Snacks

To assist with keeping track of everything, please write your name on all your belongings including clothing tags. Leave expensive items at home. Staff will be helpful but ultimately not responsible for items that go missing.

Sign In / Sign Out

Please sign your child in when you arrive and out when they depart. Injuries: It is not uncommon for a player to make incidental contact with another player or the ball. This can sometimes cause injury. Without changing the game too much we will do everything possible to prevent injuries by creating a safe environment. Minor injuries will be treated on site. Whenever an injury serious in nature prevents a player from participating for an extended period a parent will be contacted. We will provide temporary care for the player but arrangements for pick up will be made as soon as possible.
