Wee Warriors program is divided into two seasons: Fall and Winter. Due to COVID-19, the fall sessions will run for 4 sessions and the winter season will run for 9 sessions. Registration for winter programs beginning in January will open November 19, 2020 at noon.
Program Delivery
All fall and winter programs will be led by WOSC Club Head Coach, Cathy Briggs, and WOSC Staff Coaches. Note that a parent/guardian MUST be present at every session.
Equipment
Players will receive a WOSC T-shirt at the first session. Cleats are permitted in the Domes. Shin guards are mandatory in the FUNdamentals Junior and FUNdamentals sessions. Players must bring a labelled water bottle to every session.
Facility Closures (No Sessions)
There will be no sessions on the following days:
- Christmas Break (December 19 – January 3rd)
- Dome Closures (All registrants will be notified by email).
Restrictions During Ontario Soccer Phase 2
- A parent/guardian must be present at every session. Only one parent/guardian is allowed to attend a session. The parent/guardian may be asked to participate in part of the session so be prepared:)
- Players will be given a Tim Hortons ball at the first session. Players are responsible for bringing this ball and a labelled water bottle to every session.
- Players will be required to check in before the session in order for WOSC to maintain a Contact Tracing Log.
- Players and parents/guardians will be asked to sanitize their hands before entering onto the field using either their own sanitizer or the one provided at the field.
- In Phase 2, players are allowed to participate in 1v1 2v2 and 3v3 activities. If a parent is uncomfortable with this, then the parent/guardian is to participate in order to give their child the required competition necessary in an activity.
- Each player must complete a COVID-19 Self Assessment Checklist BEFORE every session. Compliance is based on the honour system. Click here to access the self-assessment.
- Masks or face shields are required by everyone including coaches (unless otherwise exempt) when entering the Dome or WOSC building as per the Temporary Mandatory Mask By-Law. Only players may remove masks during the actual session. All spectators must wear a mask.
- The WOSC building is closed to the public except for the emergency use of bathrooms by players.
- Carousels into the domes are NOT to be touched with bare hands. Players will enter through the carousel using their covered forearms, shoulder or back. Only 1 player is allowed in the carousel at a time. The carousel will be sanitized once an hour.
Program Philosophy
A fun-filled, high energy program designed to improve a player’s agility, balance, and coordination, as well as introduce them to soccer. This program is based on the WOSC Player Development 4 Life (PD4L) vision, Long Term Player Development (LTPD) guidelines, and True Sport principles. The PD4L vision focuses on developing the player with a holistic approach by creating short and long term goals. LTPD is a framework that provides a baseline to ensure programs are player-centered and coach driven with content focused on the training stage of the player. True Sport is a series of programs and initiatives designed to give people, communities, and organizations the means by which to leverage the many benefits of sport from a platform of shared values and principles.
