The WOSC U13GT1 team earned a silver medal at the Gloucester Invitational Soccer Tournament. The girls had a very strong performance in the round robin finishing with two wins and a loss. The highlights of the round robin games were the two victories over Hamilton FC 2-1 and Gloucester Hornets 1-0.
The two victories earned us a spot in the finals. In the finals dealing with a few key injuries, the girls held a very powerful Peterborough FC team to a scoreless draw in regulation time. They went into sudden death overtime and nothing was determined. Both teams had their chances in regulation and in sudden death but couldn’t capitalize. The game went into penalty kicks and Peterborough took the victory.
Coach Luigi commented, “It’s a hard way to decide a very well played final match but it was worth the price of admission. I am very proud of how the girls came together and worked as a team all weekend long. Their perseverance and dedication really showed this weekend.”
